Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble

Annual Dare to Share Showcases Training

The Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble logoThe Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble in East Brisbane, Australia, will present a showcase of its 2016 Advanced Training program in a show called Dare to Share March 31–April 2.

Each year, the Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble's Core Ensemble and Apprentices spend several months in training, working on monologues, scenes, and other poetry. During this training, the actors explore a variety of techniques for embodying text and bringing to life for themselves and for a contemporary audience the rhythms, sounds, and meanings of Shakespeare's text.

Dare to Share is a sharing of that training, in which the company performs some of the pieces it has explored, as well as presenting some of the training techniques. The audience is invited to ask questions afterwards about the actors' work and the company in general.

Dare to Share 2016 will feature classical Japanese haikus, monologues from a dozen Shakespeare plays, and seven Shakespeare scenes performed by pairs of actors. Drinks including wine, tea, and coffee will be available before and after the show.

The shows are the Geoffrey Rush Drama Studio on the University of Queensland begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10. To book online, go to www.qldshakespeare.org/book_tickets.html.
