Cold Weather Prompts Ticket Discounts

First Folio TheatreAs Chicago, Illinois, froze in the recent polar vortex, keeping people indoors and forcing cancellations of some shows (including the musical Hamilton), First Folio Theatre in suburban Oak Brook, Illinois, enlisted the weather as a marketing tool.

The theater is offering a special cold weather discount offer of 20 percent off on all tickets for its current production, Joseph Zettelmaier's All Childish Things through February 17 (the play's run ends a week later). Buyers need to use the code "Luke" to get the discount.

The theater also is offering free hot chocolate and hot tea prior to every performance.

First Folio Theatre was founded and began performing at the Mayslake Peabody Estate in 1996. The coal baron mansion was built in 1921 and served as a Franciscan retreat from 1924–1991 when it was sold to DuPage County for use as a public park and community center. Though First Folio stages its summer Shakespeare productions outside on the grounds of the estate, its winter productions use an auditorium inside the former Franciscan retreat.
